ESCR-Net has elected a new board for the period 2019-2021. The elections ran from 13–30 November, featured 24 candidates and elicited 141 votes from the network’s organizational members, resulting in the election of:

ESCR-Net is grateful to the outgoing board for their leadership over the past three years: Francisco Rocael Mateo Morales (Consejo de Pueblos Wuxhtaj) who served as Board chair, Cathy Albisa (National Economic and Social Rights Initiative) who served as Treasurer, Sandra Ratjen (Franciscans International) who served as Secretary, Ruth Aura Odhiambo (Federation of Women Lawyers), Saeed Baloch (Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum), Hasan Barghouthi (Democracy and Workers' Rights Center) and Herman Kumara (National Fisheries Solidarity Organization).

During its tenure from 2016-2018, the board oversaw a dynamic period for ESCR-Net. In 2016 the network held a Global Strategy Meeting, where members affirmed the Common Charter for Collective Struggle and adopted shared objectives for the network in the coming period. While overseeing ongoing collective work within working groups, the outgoing board also worked to position ESCR-Net to confront immediate challenges and systemic conditions, supporting the move towards more focused network-wide action and campaigning and generally supporting the network to fulfil its mission.

With strong incoming leadership for the coming period, ESCR-Net is well-prepared to confront significant challenges and take advantage of strategic openings to advance human rights and social justice for all.
